Team Bastows take on the Nightrider challenge

Bastows/News/News/Charity/Team Bastows take on the Nightrider challenge

A team from Bastows are taking part in the London Nightrider challenge this 9-10 June in aid of Dementia UK and we really need your support!
Team members are Nimesh, Frank, Dan, Wil, Gunars and Chupo. Some of them have taken on epic rides before, others are enthusiastic and willing novices, keen to support a great charity and their teammates. The team are aiming to complete the 100km course from 11pm on 9 June. They start in the shadow of the Olympic Park, which will hopefully serve as inspiration! Please give them your support (and more importantly some money!)The charity is very close to our hearts; Dementia has affected people we love and care about. It is a heartbreaking illness that does not discriminate, and steals so much from sufferers and their families.Nim sadly lost his father in January after a battle with dementia in recent years; our team ride in honour of him- a kind, loving and inspiring husband and father, former semi-professional cricketer, opening batsman and family man.Training sessions are underway- and as you can see, the sun is shining on our guys!

There are over 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK today. Of these, approximately, 42,000 are people with young onset dementia, which affects people under the age of 65. As a person’s age increases, so does the risk of them developing dementia.

It is estimated that the number of people living with dementia in the UK by 2025 will rise to over 1 million.

We are taking action now to help fund research and support for the future.
