Our ideal candidate has:

Knowledge of Construction Health and Safety Regulations

SMSTS and NVQ6 qualifications

A CSCS Manager or higher level pass and card must be held

Proactive problem solving skills

Strong planning skills and is able to manage workload

Good knowledge of IT packages including Word, Excel, email and Project

Excellent spoken and written English

Cost and efficiency awareness

A good understanding of structural works

The ability to work towards early completion on all projects



Bastows, the foremost contractor working to beautify London’s most prestigious homes, is looking for talented, experienced Site Managers to join the team.

About the role:

We are seeking highly experienced, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and proactive people to join us as Site Managers.

Based on our busy project sites around Central London, you will be completing the internal and external refurbishment of prestigious homes. This will involve the interpretation of drawings and liaison with surveyors and Contract Administrators, so a good understanding of technical matters is essential.

As a smaller company, we work closely together so you’ll have backup from the rest of the site team as well as our office- we believe in pulling together to get things done.


SMSTS qualified status, ideally assessed to NVQ 4 level

Sound experience of managing the refurbishment and renovation of complex, high-value residential properties over £650,000

Excellent comprehension of design drawings and structural works


Good IT and administrative skills, in particular email and Excel

Excellent communicator- must have a good standard of spoken and written English

Exceptional customer care skills

Ability to maximise profit and manage costs

Able to show experience of planning, managing projects and taking the initiative to get the job done

Focused, trustworthy, well presented and enthusiastic

Able to adapt and think on your feet

Humorous, personable, professional- gets on with people and finds solutions, not problems


We currently have exciting opportunities available for Painter/Decorators. Joining us on a full time, permanent basis, you will be based with our team in Central London and in return, you will receive a competitive salary.

Responsibilities of our Painter/Decorators include:

– Effectively, efficiently and properly complete painting and decorating work on internal or external residential project sites in Central London so that work is delivered within time, to budget and to desired quality

– You will be able and willing to follow instructions as set out by the Site Manager or Supervisor and ensure quality work

– We are looking for someone who is proactive, a good communicator with good spoken English, able to work within the H&S policy and site rules

– Aligned with company values and intent with a positive attitude and sense of humour, and will always be professional and courteous

– You must be a team player who embraces challenges, and manages highs and lows with equal enthusiasm

– You will be open to new ideas, training and learning and willing to challenge yourself to develop new skills and knowledge

To be considered as our Painter/Decorator, it is essential that you have the following skills and experience:

– CSCS General Operative or higher pass essential and correct card must be held

– Minimum NVQ Level 2

– Proven experience of delivering quality work on prestigious project sites

– Experience of working with other operatives, dealing with residents and following instruction as per a client’s specification of works.

– Ability to work functionally

Our ideal Painter/Decorators will also be able to demonstrate:

– Multi task and work both on own initiative and to instructions

– Willingness to be ‘hands on’ in order to foster a positive working environment and utilise all skills and resources available on site

– Excellent attention to detail and ability to check own work

– Good standard of understanding of Health and Safety issues and willingness to take responsibility for your own safety and that of others, including reporting any and all H&S issues to Site Managers for action

– Must be conscious of maintaining a good working environment and clean and tidy workspace and welfare facilities

– Positive, conscientious person
